Mohali: On the fifth day of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, farmers’ union leaders addressed the media on the Delhi-Haryana Singhu border for the second day today.
Leaders addressing the press conference included Jagmohan Singh of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Dakaunda), Yogendra Yadav of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samiti (ABKSS), Gurnaam Singh Chaduni of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Haryana Unit) and Shiv Kumar Kakaji of the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh (RKM).
All leaders condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements on the new agricultural laws made during his radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ this Sunday.
Invoking the teachings of Guru Nanak – Kirrt Karo, Naaam Japo, Vand Chaako, or work hard, say God’s name and share with others – on his 551 birthday, union leaders said they have gathered here to protect the rights of Kirrtis, or workers, day laborers and farmers.
Jagmohan Singh from BKU (Dakaunda) said: “Prime Minister Modi addresses the nation with his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ every Sunday, we ask that you also listen to the ‘Mann ki Baat’ from the farmers.”
Singh added that until the Center repeals the three agricultural laws, the agitators will continue to sit on the borders of Delhi. Singh said that the Modi government’s decision to pass a bill related to farmers without consulting farmers shows that the Modi-led regime is nothing more than “a fascist state.”
Yogendra Yadav, national president of ABKSS, said the farmers’ movement has shown the Center to be wrong on many levels. “The farmers here today have exposed five lies and I will tell you what those lies are,” he said.
“The Center had said that the new agricultural laws will eliminate the so-called intermediaries and therefore only the intermediaries protest. But look around and see who is here. I won’t tell you, find out for yourself if it’s the peasants or the middlemen, ”Yadav said.
“The second lie that we have exposed,” Yadav added, “is that the poor farmer is a credulous race and they don’t know what is good for them. Let me assure you that if you talk to even a child at this protest, they will tell you why they are here and what is wrong with farm bills. “
He added that “the Center is busy painting the picture that this protest is a Punjab-only protest,” he said that while Punjab has led this fight, farmers and workers from UP, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were also present.
“Look Medha Patkar Hee came here, Pratibha Shinde Hee has come here (from Maharashtra), Shiv Kumar Hee He is among us from Madhya Pradesh, and Gurnam Chaduni is here from Haryana, ”said yadav.
Alluding to the tweet by the head of the BJP IT cell, Amit Malviya, and the statement by Haryana Prime Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Yadav said that those who were trying to smear the farmers movement by calling them ‘Khalistani’ are the real traitors. .
Gurnam Singh Chaduni from the Haryana BKU unit said that the Haryana police have reported three cases against him for riots, arson and attempted murder, showing how repressive the Haryana government is.
Chaduni said that the new agricultural laws aim to turn this country’s peasantry into economic slaves. He said the pro-business nature of the new laws will make the rich even richer and the poor even poorer.
“If you calculate it, Ambani’s hourly earnings are higher than the debt of all the farmers in this country combined,” Chaduni said.
RKM’s Shiv Kumar called PM Modi a “legendary liar” and said: “The prime minister says we have been assured of C2 + 50 crop prices, while farmers do not even get a minimum price support through the which he / she lives. I have seen prime ministers lie, but I have not seen a prime minister who is a legendary liar, “he said.
At the end of the press conference, members of two different transport associations stood in solidarity with the farmers. They said that if the farm laws are not repealed, all transportation from New Delhi will be stopped.
“All taxis, buses, trucks will stop. We will go on strike and we will not let anything run in Delhi, ”said a carrier from the stage.
