‘We have a great debt to farmers,’ says Rahul Gandhi while criticizing the Center

Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi again criticized the government on Tuesday for not paying attention to farmers’ protests and asking it to grant them their rights.

“Givers are protesting in the streets and those selling lies are giving speeches on television,” Gandhi tweeted. “We have a great debt with our farmers. We can only repay this debt by doing them justice, not by insulting them, hitting them with sticks and gassing them. Those who occupy the seats reinforced by their ego, must lower and restore the rights of farmers. “

Gandhi’s comments came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that farmers were being misled about three laws enacted in September to liberalize the sector.

Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced on Monday that the government has invited leaders of the unrest to the talks on Tuesday.
