Actor Rajinikanth met with officials from his fan club, Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), in Chennai on Monday amid speculation about his long-awaited entry into politics.
After the meeting, Rajinikanth told the media that the fan club’s district secretaries have expressed their opinions. “I have also shared my views. However, they promised that they will stand firm with whatever decision I make. I will make a decision as soon as possible, ”he said.
The meeting took place in the wake of reports that Rajinikanth was reluctant to enter politics amid the pandemic, considering the risk factors involved, as he reportedly underwent a kidney transplant in 2016.
Sources close to him said there were concerns about his health as a new party will demand his presence at public rallies.
The actor is known to have had discussions with his friends about the possibilities of digital campaigns, but this was dismissed as virtual rallies may not help much when rival leaders are on the ground.
During the meeting, he asked about the Covid-19 protocols and the impacts of Cyclone Nivar.
