Many “khaps” of Haryana on Sunday decided to join the restless farmers “Delhi ChaloConvocation and march to the national capital to support their protest against the three central agricultural laws.

The decision was made at a meeting of the heads of 30 “khaps” (caste councils) in Rohtak, Sombir Sangwan, Dadri’s independent constituency of Haryana, who also heads the “Sangwan Khap”, told PTI by phone.

Palam Khap from Delhi also participated in the meeting which was chaired by its director, Ram Karan Solanki, Sangwan said.

“All ‘maybe’ who participated in the meeting unanimously decided to extend their support to the thousands of farmers sitting in protest on the borders of Delhi,” he added.

“It was decided that several Khaps will have a meeting of their individual panchayats on Monday, after which they will meet and march to Delhi in support of the restless farmers,” Sangwan said.

Khap’s leaders also called on the central government to immediately hold talks with farmers and resolve the problem.

“During the winter, thousands of farmers are on the roads. The government must speak with them immediately and solve the problem,” he said, further detailing the minutes of the meeting.

In particular, the Center on Sunday again appealed to farmer agitators to move to the field in Delhi’s Burari, while seeking to assure them that a high-level team of Union ministers is ready to speak with them in Vigyan Bhavan, the capital, once they move in. to the designated place.

The farmers’ organizations had called a march to Delhi on November 26 and 27, after which large numbers of farmers from Punjab and other parts of the country reached the borders of Delhi and besieged there for the past three days.

Union Interior Minister Amit Shah had also appealed to farmers on Sunday to move to the Burari farm, while seeking to secure immediate talks with them after they heeded the government’s request.

Farmer agitators said on Sunday they are ready for talks but will not agree to any conditions, including moving to Burari from the Singhu and Tikri borders in Delhi, where they have been staying for the past three days.
