Farmers Protest: ‘Why did you try to stop them in Haryana?’, Amarinder Singh questions Khattar’s concerns about Covid-19

The fiery exchange between Punjab’s chief minister, Amarinder Singh, and his Haryana counterpart, ML Khattar, spiked a bit higher on Sunday after Khattar claimed he did not allow protests by farmers in his state in light of the situation in Punjab. the Covid-19 pandemic. He also questioned why Amarinder Singh allowed such a congregation in his state amid the ongoing pandemic.

“If he was so concerned about the farmers spreading Covid-19 in Haryana, whose record in the pandemic remains extremely poor, he shouldn’t have stopped them within the state, but he should have allowed them to move quickly to Delhi,” Singh said.

The verbal fight between the two neighboring states began after Amarinder Singh denounced Haryana’s action of using “force” on farmers, which Khattar defended and said that using water cannons and tear gas, according to him, was not to use ” the force”.

“A man who can disown his own farmers and even go as far as calling them Khalistanis instead of standing by their side in this hour of crisis clearly has no moral scruples to spread lies,” said the Punjab CM after Khattar claimed that he wanted to speak to Amarinder about farmers’ issues, but the chief minister of Punjab was not available.

Farmers’ organizations, most of which entered Delhi on Saturday, have refused to hold protests on the Burari farm, calling them “an open jail”. “Instead of opening the jail in Burari, we have decided to gherao Delhi by blocking five main entry points to Delhi. We have a four-month ration with us, so there’s nothing to worry about. Our Operations Committee will decide everything, ”Bharatiya Kisan Union Krantikari (Punjab) President Surjeet S Phul told ANI.

Meanwhile, all the Khaps of Haryana decided on Sunday to support the protesting farmers. Perhaps you will meet tomorrow and head to Delhi. We ask the Center to reconsider the agricultural laws. Everyone has the right to express themselves, ”said Sombir Sangwan, Haryana Khap Pradhan and Dadri MLA.
