“Why not?”: Yogi on renaming Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar | India News

HYDERABAD: In the midst of a campaign for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on Saturday he proposed renaming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar.
“Some people asked me if Hyderabad’s name can be changed to Bhagyanagar. I said, ‘Why not?’ I told them that we changed the name of Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj after BJP assumed power in Uttar Pradesh. So why can’t Hyderabad be renamed to Bhagyanagar? “Adityanath said on a tour in Hyderabad’s Malkajgiri division.

Adityanath also criticized All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) about his Bihar MLA Akhtarul Iman’s objection to the word “Hindustan” while taking the oath of office.
“In Bihar, a newly elected AIMIM MLA refused to utter the word ‘Hindustan’ during the swearing-in. They will live in Hindustan, but when it comes to taking the oath on behalf of Hindustan, they hesitate. This shows the true face of AIMIM “Adityanath said.
Iman had objected to the word “Hindustan” while Protem’s president, Jitan Ram Manjhi, administered the oath of office.
“The oath is taken according to the Constitution that mentions ‘Bharat’ everywhere. I wanted to know if it is okay to say ‘Hindustan’ or should I say ‘Bharat’ during today’s oath. We are legislators. We should put the Constitution up all. I love my country, “Iman said.
Attacking the ruling Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS), Adityanath said: “A nefarious alliance of TRS and AIMIM has formed that is hampering the development of Hyderabad. All citizens are upset here. People who have been in government and the corporation here have nothing to do with the development and basic amenities of the town. ”
By asking people to vote for BJP candidates in GHMC polls, Adityanath highlighted some of the main policies of the Modi government.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Interior Minister Amit Shah repealed Article 370, giving the people of Hyderabad and Telangana complete freedom to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and become a UT citizen,” he said.
“Development has taken place under the Modi government for the last 6 years. The toilets were given to the poor for free. Three million poor people received free houses, eight million people received free LPG cylinders. During the shutdown of coronavirus, Modi government provided free ration to the poor. We are here to seek your votes for development. The BJP has been firmly present among you through its electoral manifesto. For the formation of a good Municipal Corporation of Greater Hyderabad , we have to step forward to make BJP victorious by an overwhelming majority here, “he added.
GHMC surveys are scheduled for December 1 and results will be released on December 4.
