New Delhi: Amrik Sukhdev dhaba in Haryana’s Murthal is gaining praise for his gesture of serving free food to farmers protesting against the Center’s new farm laws.
Meanwhile, the Youth Wing of the National Congress of India posted a video of the Amrik Sukhdev dhaba on its Twitter account, praising the restaurant on the outskirts of the national capital and located on the national highway in Haryana.
“This is MY INDIA! Greetings. Dhaba Amrik Sukhdev on the Delhi border Haryana Murthal serves free food to farmers,” the Youth Congress tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Maharashtra State Committee, gave a “red salute” to the restaurant.
“These are the stories that make our society a beautiful place to live and to live … Red salute to Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba,” CPIM Maharashtra tweeted.
As soon as the news spread, Twitterati started calling the restaurant. Some even promised to visit the dhaba in the near future. These are some of the reactions:
Farmers in Punjab, Haryana and other parts of the country faced tear gas shells and water cannons to continue their march towards Delhi as part of their protest.
Last night, all the barricades erected by the Haryana police on the border with Punjab and along the road to Delhi had been lifted.
Hundreds of farmers entered the national capital to hold a peaceful protest on a field in North Delhi, while thousands are still at the border points.
“We have again started heading towards Delhi in the morning after an overnight stop at Meham in the Rohtak district of Haryana,” Bharatiya Kisan (Ekta-Ugrahan) Union leader Shingara Singh said on Saturday.
Farmers protesting against the Center’s farm laws fear the laws will lead to the dismantling of the minimum support price system, leaving them at the “mercy” of large corporations.
The Center has invited several Punjab farmer organizations to another round of talks in the national capital on December 3.
