PM Modi praises the work of the Zydus Biotech Park team after the visit, to visit the Bharat Biotech facilities below


Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the Covid-19 vaccine development at Ahmedabad’s Zydus Biotech Park on Saturday and thanked the team for the work done on the Zydus Cadila candidate before starting the Bharat Biotech facility in Telangana.

“I visited the Zydus Biotechnology Park in Ahmedabad to learn more about the indigenous DNA-based vaccine being developed by Zydus Cadila. I congratulate the team behind this effort for their work. The Government of India is actively working with them to support them on this journey, ”he tweeted.

In his interaction with scientists and company officials, PM Modi received information about the vaccine development work and the vaccine production procedure at the plant, according to PTI.

The phase I clinical trial of Zydus Cadila’s vaccine candidate ZyCoV-D has ended and phase II clinical trials have begun as of August, the company announced.

The prime minister, who is on a three-city tour to assess Covid-19 vaccine development work, arrived in Hyderabad to visit the Bharat Biotech facility. Biotech has partnered with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) for a domestically made Covid-19 vaccine using the virus strain isolated by the Pune-based ICMR’s National Institute of Virology (NIV).

After assessing the progress made in the manufacture of Covaxin, a candidate for the Covid-19 vaccine, which is undergoing phase 3 trials, the prime minister will travel to the Serum Institute of India (SII) in Pune. IBS has partnered with the global pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford for the vaccine.
