Bibi Jagir Kaur, Senior Leader of SAD, has been elected Chairman of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for the fourth time.

Previously, the members, due to their loyalty to SAD, entrusted all rights to the party chairman, Sukhbir Singh Badal, to answer the call to elect the new head of the Sikh corps, during a closed session at Teja Singh Samundri Hall here.

Amid opposition from some members, who proposed the name of former SAD leader Mithu Singh Kahneke, the voting process was adopted.

Jagir Kaur emerged the winner with a convincing margin. He obtained 122 votes out of a total of 143.

She was previously chair of the committee from 1999 to 2000.
