Samsung has gotten used to releasing new Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds with the new flagship Galaxy S models. It has done so for the past two years. In case you were concerned that it might not be the case next year, we can now confirm that it will indeed release a new pair.
The announcement of the Galaxy S21 will be accompanied by a new pair of Galaxy Buds. These will be Samsung’s second wireless headphones in less than six months. As you may recall, it launched Galaxy Buds Live in August of this year.
New Galaxy Buds with active noise cancellation
The Galaxy Buds Live were a completely different product. They came six months after the launch of the Galaxy Buds + with the Galaxy S20 series. These had a different design and were the first Samsung headphones to support active noise cancellation.
They are not intended to replace the Galaxy Buds. SamMobile can now confirm that Samsung will launch new headphones with the Galaxy S21 that will have the same in-ear design as the Galaxy Buds / Buds +. Samsung has made some improvements under the hood too.
There were the usual updates to improve the sound quality. Our sources also reveal that there will be an enhanced environmental mode. It is the function that allows external noise to pass through the headphones so that you can be aware of your surroundings. Previous implementations have not been exactly perfect, so an improvement will certainly be welcome.
We also heard that these new Galaxy Buds will likely feature active noise cancellation. This will be the first time Samsung’s designer in-ear headphones have been produced. ANC performance should be better than the Galaxy Buds Live, in theory at least, as the in-ear design effectively seals the ear canal to provide a natural level of noise cancellation. Add ANC on top of that and it could be a noticeable difference compared to ANC on Galaxy Buds Live.
It is not clear at this time what Samsung will call these new headphones. The Galaxy Buds Beyond name has been floating around for a while. It is also possible that Samsung uses a completely different nickname. The Galaxy S21 is expected to be unveiled in early January 2021. The new Galaxy Buds will likely be unveiled the same day in colors similar to those already available for existing headphones.
