BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said Friday’s verdicts by the Mumbai Supreme Court and High Court on the recent events in Maharashtra were a “hard slap” on the Maha Vikas Aghadi government (MVA).
Although Mr. Fadnavis did not specify what verdicts he was talking about, he was apparently referring to the Supreme Court’s decision to extend the provisional bail of journalist Arnab Goswami and to the Mumbai High Court’s observation that the body part demolition action Mumbai civic of actor Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow in Bombay Mumbai was illegal and smells of malicious intent.

On Friday, the Supreme Court said that provisional bail for journalist Arnab Goswami and two other people in a suicide instigation case will continue until the Mumbai High Court rules on their statement, and stated that the judiciary must ensure that the right criminal does not become a stalking weapon.
The defendants were arrested by Alibaug police in the Raigad district of Maharashtra on 4 November in connection with the suicide of architect and interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother in 2018 over alleged non-payment of fees by the companies of the accused. Goswami was released from Taloja jail on November 11 after the SC granted him provisional bail.
On Friday, the Bombay High Court outlawed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) action to demolish part of Ranaut’s bungalow here and said it smells of bad intentions.
The court was presiding over a petition filed by Ranaut, seeking to have the partial demolition of his Pali Hill bungalow carried out by the Shiv Sena controlled BMC on 9 September outlawed.
