US President Donald Trump addressed the press Thursday for Thanksgiving and spoke on many topics. But what got a lot of comments online was the fact that he was sitting behind a very small desk while still alleging voter fraud. One of the trending hashtags mocking the president also sparked a response.
During the event, Trump lashed out at a reporter, allegedly biased in the media, and refused to say whether he would attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. Trump was answering questions from the press after a video chat with service members.
On social media, what caught people’s attention was the small desk behind which he was sitting. Soon, ‘Tiny Desk’, ‘Resolute Desk’ and #DiaperDon started to be trending on the microblogging site. People claimed the size of the desk was in line with his ‘big baby throwing a tantrum’ attitude, given that Trump refused to concede the presidential election.
Maybe if you behave yourself, stop lying to undermine a fair election, and start thinking about what’s good for the country instead of complaining about how unfair they treat you, you will be invited to sit at the big boy’s table. #Diapers pic.twitter.com/nnNOoOI1gl

The fact that this photo is real and not Photoshopped is the funniest thing I’ve seen in quite a while. 😂 pic.twitter.com/CIuFfX3WMB

May this be how we remember Trump’s presidency: a baby at his tiny desk throwing a tantrum pic.twitter.com/T26DjF1fL4

I like to think that during Trump’s presidency, some White House hero has slowly changed Trump’s desk for a slightly smaller one, day by day, so that he doesn’t realize it, until four years later we get to this one. majestic image. #Diapers pic.twitter.com/UUe8dfx0SD

I want to salute the dark and subtle genius, quietly working on the White House staff, who managed to move Rudy Giuliani’s press conference to a run-down garden center, and seat Donald Trump himself at that tiny, tiny desk.
Take care. The world needs your art.#Diapers pic.twitter.com/xALQUblaX6

However, as #DiaperDon dominated global trends and became the top trending hashtags in the US, Trump responded by saying that a law protecting Twitter from liability for its users’ posts should be removed due to to “national security.”
He asked that Section 230, which protects website publishers from liability for third-party content under US law, be “immediately canceled” and claimed that Twitter was fabricating its tendencies to represent only “negative things.”
“Twitter is sending out totally bogus ‘Trends’ that have absolutely nothing to do with what’s really trending in the world,” he wrote.
Twitter is sending totally false “Trends” that have absolutely nothing to do with what is really trending in the world. They make it up, and only negative “things”. The same thing will happen to Twitter as to @Fox News day time. Also, great conservative discrimination!

At the event, Trump said, for the first time since losing the election, that he would actually physically leave the White House if the electoral college confirmed Joe Biden as the next president.
