Mehbooba Mufti, Daughter, Alleges House Arrest; police deny | India News

SRINAGAR: Former Chief Minister of J&K Mehbooba Mufti on Friday she claimed that she and her daughter, Iltija Mufti, have been under house arrest for the past two days and were not allowed to visit Pulwama’s residence in PDP Youth Wing Leader Waheed Parra, who was arrested by the NIA earlier this week.

However, later that day, the police clarified that the head of the PDP has not been placed under house arrest. He was asked to postpone his visit to Pulwama “simply for security reasons,” a police officer said according to the new ANI agency.
On Twitter, the PDP leader said he wrote: “I have been illegally detained once again. For two days now, the J&K administrator has refused to allow me to visit @parawahid’s family in Pulwama. BJP ministers and their puppets can move to every corner of Kashmir, but security is an issue only in my case. ”
Mufti had requested security clearance for his visit to Parra’s residence in Naira village on Friday to meet his family. The PDP chief said she has not been allowed to comfort Parra’s family, who were arrested on “unfounded charges.”
In a communication posted on his official Twitter account, ADG SD Singh requested the rescheduling of the former chief minister’s proposed visit to Naira village at the request of the Pulwama District Police.
Mufti said he would hold a press conference later that day.

Reacting to the alleged arrest, the leader of the National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, said that the government treats personal freedom as a favor, granting and withdrawing it at will, without interference from the judiciary.
