Tina Dabi, an official of the group’s 2016 Indian Administrative Service (IAS), said on Friday that she has joined as joint secretary (finance) of the Rajasthan government. “He joined the Rajasthan government as Deputy Secretary for Finance (Tax) today,” Dabi posted on Twitter.
Dabi, who led the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil service exam, is the first Dalit woman to head the prestigious exams. Dabi, who belongs to Bhopal, was assigned the Rajasthan painting. The 26-year-old, a political science graduate from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi, was appointed to Sri Ganganagar as executive director of the zila parishad after her training.
Dabi recently made the news when she and her husband IAS Athar Khan filed for a consensual divorce in a family court in Jaipur, two years after their wedding. Their relationship apparently began at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie and the subsequent wedding caught the attention of the nation. Dabi ranked first in the UPSC exams, Khan ranked second.
Their wedding was hailed as a symbol of communal harmony. Congressional leader Rahul Gandhi had congratulated the IAS couple and tweeted: “May your love grow more and more and may you be an inspiration to all Indians in this era of growing intolerance and community hatred. God bless you.”
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, former Lok Sabha President Sumitra Mahajan, and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad were among those who attended their wedding reception in Delhi. There were three wedding receptions: the first in Jaipur, which was a simple court ceremony, the second in Pahalgam, and the third in Delhi.
