A video of a stray dog nibbling on the corpse of a girl inside a Uttar Pradesh government hospital in the Sambhal state district has caused outrage.
The disturbing incident occurred on Thursday after the girl was taken to hospital after a traffic accident; It is not clear if he died before reaching the hospital.
A 20-second video widely shared on social media shows a dog nibbling on what appears to be a corpse covered in white cloth on a gurney in an isolated area of the hospital.
The victim’s family has blamed the hospital for negligence. The hospital administration has recognized the problem of stray dogs.
“They left him unattended for 1.5 hours. It is negligence of the hospital,” Charan Singh, the girl’s father, was quoted as saying by the ANI news agency.
The hospital administration told ANI that there was indeed a stray dog threat inside the hospital and that they had written to local civic authorities, but no action was taken. However, in this case, the hospital’s chief medical superintendent claimed that they were not at fault.
“The body was turned over to the family after the formalities. They didn’t want an autopsy and they were taking it away. The body may have been left unattended for a minute when the incident happened,” Dr. Sushil Verma said, according to ANI. .
The Samajwadi Party, which also shared the gruesome video on Twitter, called for strict action against those responsible.
