MP CM Sisodia on the reopening of Delhi schools
Two days ago, Delhi’s Chief Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia said that there is no chance that Delhi schools will reopen anytime soon.
“There is no chance that schools will open soon. No parent would want to send their children until they are sure they will be safe,” Sisodia said, adding that no parent would risk their children’s health at this time.
Schools in Delhi have been closed since March due to the new coronavirus pandemic. In early October, the AAP government said that all schools in the city would remain closed until further notice.
In accordance with the latest “unblocking” guidelines, the government has allowed schools, which are outside of Covid-19 containment zones, to reopen for classes 9 to 12. Delhi on Wednesday recorded 5,246 new cases of Covid-19 in a span of 24 hours as the positivity rate dropped to 8.49%, the lowest since October 28, while 99 more deaths brought the toll to killed in the city to 8,720 the same day.
