Punjab Prime Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered a nightly curfew across the state from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting on December 1, in the wake of the increase in novel coronavirus cases in the state, according to the ANI news agency.
Along with that, the state government also ordered to double the fine for not wearing masks or maintaining social distance or for disobeying any other Covid protocol of ₹500 to ₹1,000.
All hotels, restaurants, wedding palaces close at 9:30 p.m. All curbs will be checked around December 15th.
The various announcements came after the prime minister chaired a high-level state Covid review meeting earlier that day.
After the meeting, Singh asked Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan to encourage more private hospitals to provide beds for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in the state.
Meanwhile, twenty-two more deaths from COVID-19 in Punjab brought the death toll to 4,653, while the number of cases rose to 1,47,665 on Tuesday with 614 new infections.
