Following these orders, a large number of BMC workers were seen performing the mandatory RT-PCR tests on passengers.
In addition, the deputy municipal commissioners have also been ordered to obtain a list of daily trains and to make arrangements for passenger control and keep symptomatic records.
“If the antigen test is negative, the passenger can go home. If it is positive, the protocol for positive cases will be followed,” said a BMC circular.
The Maharashtra government on Monday issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) that makes a negative RT-PCR report mandatory for domestic air travelers, as well as rail and road passengers arriving from these four states.
The SOP also stated that “passengers who fail to test or test positive for COVID-19 will be sent to COVID Care Centers (CCC)” and the cost of additional care will be borne by the passengers.
