New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with top ministers of the eight states where COVID-19 has seen a surge after the holiday season and discussed the situation arising due to the coronavirus pandemic. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel attended the meeting. The meeting comes a day after the Supreme Court noted that the COVID-19 situation is likely to worsen in December and that all states must be prepared to combat it. Also read – Hidden Real Hero! “We believe that all States, as well as the Union of India, must take immediate action. That the status report, as indicated, be presented within two days from today and the matter is listed on November 27, 2020 for its consideration and approval of the corresponding orders, ”the higher court had said.

Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal informed Prime Minister Modi that Delhi saw a peak of 8600 COVID-19 cases on November 10 at the third peak. Since then, the cases and the positivity rate have been constantly decreasing. The high severity of the third wave is due to many factors, including pollution, the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office said.

CM Kejriwal also sought PM intervention to get rid of pollution due to stubble burning from contiguous states, especially given the recent biodecomposer. He also called for the reservation of 1000 additional ICU beds in central government hospitals until the third wave lasts.

Maharashtra: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he is in constant contact with Adar Poonawalla of the Serum Institute of India (SII) and that the state has formed a task force to ensure timely distribution of the vaccine and implementation of the program vaccination.
