During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with the chief ministers of all states to review the coronavirus disease situation across the country on Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal from Delhi informed him that Covid-19 cases and the rate of positivity have steadily declined in the national capital since November 10.
“Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal informed Prime Minister Modi that Delhi saw a peak of 8,600 Covid-19 cases on November 10 at the third peak. Since then, the cases and the positivity rate have been constantly decreasing. The high severity of the third wave is due to many factors, including pollution, ”said the prime minister’s office (CMO), according to the ANI news agency.

Senior CMO officials also said that Kejriwal sought the intervention of Prime Minister Modi to get rid of pollution due to burning stubble from neighboring states, especially in light of the recent biodecomposer. Kejriwal also requested the reservation of 1,000 additional beds in the intensive care units (ICUs) of the hospitals run by the central government until the third wave lasts in the capital.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday that pollution caused by burning stubble has led to a higher number of Covid-19 deaths in the state.

The national capital for the past few days has been adding the highest number of cases to the country’s daily Covid-19 count. As many as 4,454 cases and 121 more deaths were recorded on Monday. This was the sixth time in the past 12 days that the daily toll crossed the 100 mark.
Prime Minister Modi in the meeting with heads of state is reviewing the measures taken to control the spread of the infection. The first hours were spent interacting with top ministers from states that saw a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths. The states that are part of this interaction are Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Chandigarh.
Modi, in the second half of the review meeting, will discuss the vaccination distribution strategy with the senior ministers. This comes after it held a review meeting on the progress made in vaccine research, procurement and delivery on Friday.
