The Punjabi Basti Market and the Janta Market in Nangloi had violated social distancing guidelines and regulations, an order said.
The district administration ordered the closure of two prominent markets for failing to adhere to COVID-19 regulations in West Delhi here on Sunday. However, the order was withdrawn shortly after.
Under the order, the Punjabi Basti Market and Janta Market in Nangloi were ordered to close until November 30 for violating COVID-19 guidelines and social distancing regulations.
Dharmendra Kumar, additional DM, issued an order to this effect for the Western district. In another order, however, the previous one who directed the closure withdrew.
Last week, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that the Delhi government had written to the Center seeking powers to effect closures in the city’s markets in case of violation of regulations.
