Mumbai: NCB officials attacked in Goregaon, 3 arrested


A team of officers from the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB), consisting of Area Director Sameer Wankhede, NCB Superintendent VV Singh, Investigative Officer Vishwanath Tiwari, and three NCB sepoys, was attacked in the Goregaon area. VV Singh, superintendent of NCB, in his complaint said that Agre and Shaikh tried to argue with him and then began to beat him. NCB agent Shiva Reddy, who came to his aid, was also attacked.

Sameer Wankhede, Mumbai NCB area director, said: “The Mumbai police helped our team. Five members of our team had come to carry out the raid and the suspects gathered a crowd of 60-70 people to save the street vendor. But we managed to arrest him and recovered a commercial amount of LSD from him. ”

“During this incident, two or three of our staff were injured, after which we filed a case against them at the Goregaon Police Station,” added Wankhede.

An FIR has been registered against the suspects under articles 353 (Aggression or criminal force to dissuade the public servant from fulfilling his duty), 323 (Penalty for causing harm voluntarily), 504 (Intentional insult with the intention of causing a breach of public order ) and 34 (Common Intent) of the Indian Penal Code.
