Amid the rise of the Covid-19 pandemic in some states across the country, the Mumbai civic body issued a notice to Mumbai International Airport for the effective implementation of the latest passenger guidelines.
The new Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) guidelines incorporated earlier Maharashtra guidelines for passengers arriving in the state from Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Goa and Rajasthan.
According to the guidelines, all passengers arriving from Delhi-NCR, the states of Goa, Rajasthan and Gujarat will be required to carry a Covid-negative report (RT-PCR) while traveling by air to Mumbai.
For domestic air travelers, the collection of RT-PCR samples must take place within 72 hours before the scheduled landing time at Maharashtra airports, the state government said in a statement.
“The Airports Authority of India is requested to verify the report before allowing passengers to board the flight,” the government notification said.
“Only after conducting the test will the airport operator allow passengers to go home,” the statement read.
The contact information and address of those who perform the test at the airport will be collected to facilitate contact, in case the report is negative.
The state government, in its order, further stated that those passengers who do not undergo the test or who test positive for Covid after arriving, will be sent to the Covid Care Center (CCC) for additional attention, where the charges will be covered. treatment. by the passengers.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s COVID-19 count rose to 17,84,361 with the addition of 4,153 new cases on Monday, while more than 3,700 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.
With 30 new deaths reported during the day, the state’s death count rose to 46,653, the department said in a statement.
A total of 3,729 patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the number of people recovered to 16,54,793, the department said.
The city of Mumbai reported 800 positive cases, while the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (PMC) areas saw an increase of 256 infections.
Of the total deaths, 14 were from the city of Mumbai. The Satara district recorded three deaths during the day, according to the statement.
