Ramgarh, Jharkhand:

A 35-year-old unemployed man allegedly killed his father, an employee of Central Coal Fields Limited (CCL), in Ramgarh of Jharkhand to get a job at PSU (Public Sector Enterprises) on compassionate ground, police said Sunday.

Krishna Ram (55), chief security guard stationed at CCL’s Central Workshop in Barkakana in Ramgarh district, was found dead with his throat slit early on Thursday, police said.

Prakash Chandra Mahto, a subdivision police officer (SDPO), told a news conference on Saturday that Ram’s 35-year-old son had killed him in his neighborhood in Barkakana on Wednesday night by cutting his throat.

Police recovered a small hummer knife used in the crime and the mobile phone of the man who was killed, he said.

Police claimed that Ram’s eldest son confessed during questioning that he killed his father to get a job at CCL out of compassion.

Under CCL provisions, a legal dependent of an employee would have a job if the employee dies during his tenure, police said.
