Which states have reopened schools and which haven’t: Here’s the full list


On the reopening of schools and colleges across the country, the Union Ministry of the Interior (MHA) had already issued an order until the end of November, after which some of the states have reopened schools after a gap of six months, while many are yet to open. .

For the reopening of schools, the government has given the states and territories of the Union the flexibility to make the decision to reopen their institutions in a phased manner, based on an assessment of the situation and subject to standard operating procedures.

School reopening guidelines, released Sept. 30, will remain in effect until Nov. 30.

Goa schools: Schools in the state have reopened for standard students in classes 10 and 12 today following Covid-19 regulations. “We have 76 students whose parents signed the consent form. We are following the # COVID19 guidelines,” says a school teacher in Cujira.

Andhra Pradesh schools – Schools in the state gradually reopened. For students in grades 9 and 10, schools reopened on November 2, for courses 6 and 8, they will open on November 23, and for students in courses 1 and 5, school will begin on December 14.

Uttar Pradesh schools – In the state, schools for students in classes 9 and 12 have reopened on a staggered basis. According to the state government, students can visit their school with parental consent.

Assam schools – For students in class 6 and above, schools reopened in the state on November 2. Assam’s education department has decided that students in classes 6, 7, 9 and 12 will have classroom teachings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week, while those in classes 8, 10 and 11 will come to the school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. .

Uttarakhand schools – Schools reopened in the state for students in classes 10 and 12. All schools in Uttarakhand will be required to follow Covid-19 guidelines.

Maharashtra schools – Schools in the state will reopen for classes 9 to 12 as of November 23 following all Covid-19 security protocols. “Schools will reopen on November 23 and students will undergo a thermal check upon entering,” Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said.

Bombay Schools – In view of the growing number of Covid-19 cases in the city, all schools under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will remain closed until December 31. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said: “The decision was made in the wake of the increase in COVID19 cases in Mumbai. Schools will not reopen on November 23.”

Delhi Schools – Schools in the national capital will remain closed until further orders are received by the government, Delhi Chief Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia said. While speaking to reporters, Delhi CM Kejriwal also said: “Schools are not reopening for now.”

Tamil Nadu schools – The Tamil Nadu government has said that it will analyze the situation in the state once again before making a final decision on reopening schools. “The reopening of the schools is postponed for now. The order to reopen the schools for classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 is withdrawn as of November 16. Seniors and research scholars will be able to attend classes and staying in hostels, “said CM Edappadi Palaniswami.

Kolkata schools – The teaching activity and physical assemblies in schools, colleges and universities of the state will continue to be suspended, announced the state government.

Haryana Schools – All public and private schools in the state have decided to remain closed until November 30 in light of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the state government said.
