The decision to impose a night curfew came after Chouhan held a review meeting with health officials to assess the situation. Following this, it was announced that a night curfew will be imposed on Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ratlam and Vidisha. But the night curfew will not hamper the movement of transport vehicles and workers working in factories.
Chouhan further clarified that the collected-led crisis management group will meet in each district on November 21 to review the situation at the district level and decided accordingly.
Schools up to the eighth class will be closed in Madhya Pradesh and upper secondary and universities will also not hold regular sessions. “Only those who want guidance can come to universities and colleges according to the guidelines established by the respective departments,” Chouhan said.
The night curfew will continue until cases have stabilized, Chouhan said. Although there would be no blockade in any area of the state, except those that become containment areas with a high number of cases. Such areas will be identified as containment zones and movement back and forth from these containment zones will be stopped.
On Friday, Bhopal recorded the highest of 378 COVID cases followed by Indore with 313 cases, Gwalior 96 positive cases, while Ratlam recorded 76 cases and Vidisha another 39 cases. The total number of active cases in PM amounts to 10,402 of which 1,528 were reported on Friday. The highest mortality from COVID-19 has been recorded in Indore with a total of 726 deaths, followed by Bhopal with 503 deaths, 172 in Gwalior and 62 in Ratlam, while another 52 in Vidisha. While a total of 3,138 people have died in the state so far.
