Section 144 will be reimposed in Rajasthan from Saturday as coronavirus cases surge in the state


Rajasthan closing news: Looking at the increasing cases of coronavirus in the state, the Ashok Gehlot government announced on Friday that the restrictions will be reimposed under Section 144 starting Saturday. In announcing the order, the state government said that all district magistrates have been empowered to reinstate bans under Section 144 in all districts of Rajasthan. The order further stated that the District Magistrate can enforce Section 144 for a longer period only after consulting the state government. The development comes after Rajasthan reported 15 more deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 2,116, while 2,549 new cases brought the state’s infection count to 2.34,907. Also Read: Hong Kong Bans Air India Flights For 14 Days After Passengers Test Positive COVID At Airport

Watching the rise in coronavirus cases, the central government had dispatched a core team to Rajasthan on Thursday. Core teams were also dispatched to Haryana, Gujarat and Manipur to support these states’ efforts towards strengthening containment, surveillance, testing and efficient clinical management of positive coronavirus cases.

On Friday, the total number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 90.04,365 and the death toll to 1.32,162, and the infection claimed 584 lives in a span of 24 hours.

In Rajasthan, the death toll from the coronavirus infection is 403 in Jaipur, 210 in Jodhpur, 160 in Ajmer, 154 in Bikaner, 120 in Kota, 98 in Bharatpur, 81 in Udaipur and 81 in Pali.
