Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a review meeting with senior security officials following the assassinations of four JeM terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming that security forces have thwarted his efforts to cause “great havoc and destruction.”

Government sources said the terrorists were planning “something big” on the anniversary of the 11/26 Bombay terror attack.

In his post-meeting tweets, Modi said: “The neutralization of 4 terrorists belonging to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed and the presence of a large cache of weapons and explosives with them indicates that their efforts to cause great havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted. “

Praising the security forces, he said that they have once again shown the utmost courage and professionalism.

“Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots democracy exercises in Jammu and Kashmir,” the prime minister added.

At the review meeting, Interior Minister Amit Shah, NSA Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary and senior intelligence officials were present while Modi assessed the situation.

Four suspected terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed and two policemen were injured in a shooting in Nagrota Thursday after a truck carrying newly infiltrated militants was intercepted, police said.

Jammu Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mukesh Singh had said after the encounter that the terrorists had come to execute a “grand plan” that has now been thwarted.
