The Haryana government has decided to close all public and private schools on Friday amid a steady increase in coronavirus cases.
From now on, schools will be closed until November 30.
Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar said that taking into account the growing number of COVID cases in schools, the government has decided to close schools until November 20.
“The safety of children is our priority,” said the Minister of Education, adding that they will also “review the continuation of the universities.”
On Wednesday, more than 150 school students from three districts in Haryana tested positive for coronavirus, prompting authorities to order the closure of educational institutions for a few days, authorities said.
The condition of the children, all students in classes 9 to 12, was said to be stable and most of them were in home isolation, they said.
While 91 students from 13 schools in the Rewari district tested positive for COVID-19, 30 students and 10 teachers from various schools in the Jind district contracted the infection.
34 students and two teachers from the Jhajjar district were also found to be infected with the virus, authorities said.
Health Department officials said schools where the students tested positive have been closed for a few days according to government guidelines.
Officials said they were closely watching and regularly monitoring the children’s health.
Furthermore, those who had come into contact with the children and teachers were also being evaluated and evaluated.
State Health Minister Anil Vij said in a statement that teams from the health department will conduct check-ups on students and staff at all schools.
He also said that strict action will be taken against schools that do not properly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Nineteen of the 35 students from the government senior secondary school in Kund village in Rewari district, whose samples were taken a few days ago, tested positive for the infection, Deputy Commissioner Yashender Singh said on Wednesday.
Later, 12 other schools in the Rewari district were randomly sampled and nearly 1,000 students were sampled, Singh told PTI by phone.
“All the children are stable, they are in home isolation. Medical teams are at work and regularly monitor your health. The students are from classes 9 to 12, ”he said.
Jind District Medical Director Dr. Manjeet Singh said nearly 4,800 random samples were taken in schools over the past two weeks.
“So far, 30 students and 10 teachers have tested positive. Although they are doing well, the health department teams are closely monitoring and regularly monitoring their condition, ”he said.
Jhajjar District Medical Director Dr. Sanjay said 34 students and two teachers tested positive for the virus.
“We had randomly collected 1,200 samples before Diwali and 34 students and two teachers were found to have tested positive for COVID-19,” he said. – With PTI
