Cow slaughter ban will soon be a reality in Karnataka: BJP CT leader Ravi

BJP National Secretary General CT Ravi said cow slaughter will soon be banned in Karnataka

Bangalore:

A ban on the slaughter of cows would be a reality in Karnataka in the near future, BJP national secretary general CT Ravi said today.

The former Karnataka minister, who is in charge of party affairs in Maharashtra, Goa and Tamil Nadu, subject to the ballot box, said a law prohibiting the slaughter of cows would be passed in the next session of the Assembly.

“The ban on the slaughter of cows will be a reality in Karnataka in the near future. I have asked the Minister of Animal Husbandry, Sri @PrabhuChavanBJP, to pass the ‘Karnataka Livestock Preservation and Killing Prevention Act’ in the cabinet and present it at the next Assembly Session, “Chikkamagaluru MLA tweeted.

Ravi had also said earlier this month that, along the lines of the Allahabad High Court order, Karnataka would enact a law that would prohibit religious conversions for the sake of marriage.

“We will not remain silent when the jihadists strip the dignity of our sisters,” he had said, adding that anyone involved in any act of conversion will face severe and swift punishment.

The Allahabad High Court, in its order of October 31, said that religious conversion just for the sake of marriage was invalid.

The court made the comment by dismissing a request by a newly married couple in Uttar Pradesh who had approached the police to order the woman’s father not to disrupt their married life.

The petition said that the couple married in July of this year, but the woman’s relatives interfered in her marital life.
