WhatsApp tests new wallpaper features, video mute, and a read later feature

WhatsApp is by far one of the most popular instant messaging apps, if not the most popular. The application is used by millions of people around the world every day. But unlike its massive scale of operations, newer features roll out more slowly in the instant messaging app. After implementing features like disappearing messages and storage management tools, WhatsApp is now testing new features like more wallpaper options, mute videos, and read later.

Wallpaper functions for WhatsApp

WABetaInfo discovered new wallpaper related features in a recent beta version. In the future, users will be able to set different wallpapers for each chat individually, edit the opacity of their wallpaper, choose from 32 new bright wallpapers, 29 new dark wallpapers, a custom wallpaper and solid colors. , and apply the WhatsApp Doodle in the Solid Color options.

Mute Videos

Further away, WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp will also allow you to mute a video before sending it to a contact.

Read later

The Read Later feature is an extension of the Vacation Mode feature that was detected in the past, such as WABetaInfo reports. The idea is to keep archived chats separate from the main conversation screen and keep them there even when new messages arrive. You will also not receive a notification for these new messages and you do not need to mute the chat for this. You can also set the behavior as to whether chats with new messages should return to the main chat list.

It’s important to remember that all of these features are still being tested, either in the Android Beta version or the iOS Beta branches. Knowing the past deployment trends for these features in development, it will take a while before they are deployed to the stable branch. We will keep you posted when they do.
