On August 7 this year, Shrivastava had announced an incentive plan, which included an off-shift promotion, for officers and lead officers if they rescue 50 children (under 14 years of age) in one year.
Dhaka is the first person to get a promotion under this scheme.
Of the 76 children he rescued, 56 are under the age of 14.
“These missing children have been traced not only from Delhi but from other states to Punjab and West Bengal,” said a Delhi police statement.
“HC Seema Dhaka women, PS Samaypur Badli, deserve congratulations for being the first police officer to be promoted out of turn for recovering 56 children in 3 months under an incentive scheme. Hats off to the fighting spirit and joy brought to families. @LtGovDelhi (sic), “Shrivastava wrote on Twitter.
One of the most challenging cases for Dhaka was the rescue of a minor from West Bengal in October this year. The police team traveled in boats and crossed two rivers during the floods to track the boy, The Indian Express reported..
Dhaka said the boy’s mother had filed a complaint two years ago, but later changed her address and mobile phone number. “We couldn’t trace it, but we knew it came from West Bengal. A search operation started. We went to a small town and crossed two rivers during the floods. Somehow we managed to rescue the boy near his relative’s house. The boy didn’t want to go home. He said he has a stepfather who beat him, ”Dhaka told the paper.
“I worked without interruption based on the leads I had been getting. I am certainly happy,” Dhaka told the ANI news agency.
