A 46-year-old businessman was killed in Adarsh Nagar, North Delhi, his body packed in a suitcase and loaded onto a Rajdhani Express and then thrown from the moving train somewhere in Gujarat by a fiancée of a woman with whom he was in an extramarital affair. said the police.
The man’s head was first smashed with a brick, after which he was stabbed three times and his neck was slashed, said Vijayanta Arya, deputy police commissioner (Northwest).
“The businessman had opposed the woman marrying someone else,” DCP said.
The victim, Neeraj Gupta, ran a financial company in Karol Bagh and lived with his wife and children in Adarsh Nagar.
On November 14, one of Gupta’s friends filed a missing person complaint when he did not return home. That was followed up with Gupta’s wife filing a first information report (FIR) on Wednesday about his disappearance, the DCP said.
“Gupta’s wife told us that for the past 10 years she had been in an extramarital affair with her 29-year-old employee, Faisal,” DCP said.

Police began investigating the disappearance from that angle and soon arrested Faisal, her 28-year-old fiance Juber, and her 49-year-old mother, Shaheen Naaz.
“It turned out that Faisal had recently become engaged to Juber. When Gupta found out, he dissuaded her from marrying and landed at her rented house in Azadpur on the night of November 13, ”DCP said.
There, an argument ensued in which Gupta allegedly pushed Faisal. “An enraged Juber first hit his head on a brick. Then he stabbed him three times and cut his throat with a knife, “said DCP.
To dispose of the body, they allegedly bought a large suitcase, put the body inside, hired an app-based taxi and took it to Nizamuddin train station.
“From then on, Juber took over and loaded the suitcase onto a Rajdhani train heading towards Goa. He works in the pantries on the trains and that made his job easier, ”said DCP.
As the train passed through Bharuch in Gujarat, Juber allegedly dropped the suitcase.
Police have recovered the knife and brick allegedly used in the murder. “We are making efforts to recover the body,” the officer said.
