The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare today announced the Government’s decision to introduce a new category called ‘Wards of COVID Warriors’ in the guidelines for the selection and nomination of candidates for the MBBS Central Pool seats for the 2020 academic year. -twenty-one.

Central Pool MBBS seats can be assigned for the selection and nomination of candidates from among “Covid Warriors” wards, who have lost their lives due to COVID 19 or accidentally passed away due to a Covid-19 related duty.

Reminding everyone that the definition of Covid Warrior has been established by the Government of India when announcing the insurance package of 50 lakh to them, the Minister said, “The Covid Warriors are all public healthcare providers, including community health workers, who may have to be in direct contact with and care for Covid-19 patients and who may be in risk of being affected by this. Private and retired hospital staff / volunteers / local urban agencies / contracted / daily salary / ad-hoc / outsourced staff requested by states / central hospitals / autonomous hospitals of the center / states / UT, AIIMS and institutes of national importance (INI) / hospitals of the Central Ministries drawn up for responsibilities related to Covid19 are included ”. He added that the State Government / UT will certify eligibility for this category.

Five MBBS Central Pool seats have been reserved for this category for the 2020-21 year, the Union Health Minister said.

The selection of candidates will be made by the Medical Council Committee (MCC) through the online application based on the rank obtained in the NEET-2020 carried out by the National Testing Agency.
