Jammu: Four terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces near the Ban toll plaza on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway early Thursday morning.
The encounter began after a truck carrying four terrorists affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammad group from Jammu to Kashmir he was intercepted by security forces personnel near the road.
Officials said the shooting started near the Nagrota toll plaza when some militants opened fire on police and paramilitary forces. The militants, they said, were hiding in a vehicle. The Army also joined the operation, they said.
To confirm the incident, Dilbagh Singh from the Jammu Kashmir police said: “Terrorists affiliated with the JEM group have been killed … they infiltrated from the Samba sector. The terrorists threw a grenade at the security forces during the checkpoint.” .

Two SOG men from J&K police were injured in the shooting, authorities said. The shooting, which officials say started around 5 a.m., also led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
The injured have been identified as Kuldeep Raj (32) from Akhnoor and Mohammad Ishaq Malik (40) from Neel Qasim Banihal Ramban. Both have been admitted to GMC Jammu with neck injuries and their condition is said to be stable.

Meanwhile, in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir at least 12 civilians They were injured in an attack Wednesday night when suspected terrorists threw a grenade at security forces.
