GHMC Polls: Stop Flood Relief Measures in Hyderabad, EC Tells Telangana Government

With the GHMC election dates announced, both fields are buzzing with activity.

One day after the State Elections Commissioner announced the dates for the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the state’s political corridors are bustling with activity. The TRS convened a major parliamentary and legislative meeting, which will be chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and will be attended by all members of Parliament (MP), members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and members of the Legislative Council (MLC). ).

According to high-ranking sources in the party, each minister, deputy, MLA and MLC will be in charge of each of the 150 divisions of the GHMC. They will be entrusted with the responsibility of highlighting the development works carried out by the party. The source, who is confident of a victory in the GHMC elections, also revealed that the TRS camp had started preparations for the civic body elections long before the Dubbaka Assembly by-elections. “All the mapping is done. Once the nominations are complete, all TRS leaders will be campaigning in their respective divisions, ”the source said.

In 2016, TRS had managed to win 99 seats in elections to the municipal body. According to party sources, the recent defeat in Dubbaka has only made TRS set their eyes more clearly on victory.

Exuding confidence when addressing the media, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas said: “Today, Hyderabad has CCTV cameras, parks, trails, basti dawakhanas, flyovers, roads, etc. Billions of rupees have been spent developing with a vision. Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, KCR Kits, pension plans and the KG to PG plan are introduced for the welfare of the people. We will trust our work and everything we have done ”.

“Our criteria is the development and well-being of people. There was a time when people talked about Bengaluru and Chennai. Today, Hyderabad is in the spotlight and people want to settle here, ”he added.

While the TRS won 99 seats in the last GHMC elections, after the elections, the only corporate Telugu Desam Party (TDP) joined the TRS and brought the party’s tally to 100. Even this time, the TRS is confident win around 100 squares. When asked about how many seats TRS has in this election, Minister Talasani said: “According to my calculations, TRS will win 104 out of 150 districts.”

While KCR will oversee the polls, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao is expected to play a prominent role, considering his experience in close handling of the portfolio. “He knows the GHMC entry and exit limits and knows the city well and all the development that has taken place,” said the source. KTR will hold tours and group meetings.

The BJP, which won the recent by-elections in Dubbaka, has been lamenting the sudden decision of the State Elections Commission to announce the elections. Citing a conspiracy by the TRS, he said the elections were being held on short notice. However, the match appears to have upped its ante and taken it as a challenge.

The BJP has appointed its national secretary general, Bhupender Yadav, who led the NDA to victory in Bihar, in charge of the GHMC elections. He will lead the BJP fight and has already started working on the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections. Few like Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar, Maharashtra BJP leader Ashish Shelar, and others like Pradeep Singh Waghela and Satish Reddy, are part of a team monitoring the elections. Former Hyderabad Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy also left Congress to join the BJP on Wednesday.
