Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Polls on December 1

Hyderabad: Elections for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will be held on December 1, Telangana State Elections Commissioner Parthasarathy said Tuesday. The submission of nominations would begin on November 18. The vote count would be done on December 4.

The last day to submit nominations is November 20, and the scrutiny of the nomination documents will take place on November 21. The last day to withdraw nominations is November 24.

The ruling TRS and opposition parties are fully prepared for the elections. The TRS government has already announced sops to various sectors of society in light of GHMC polls. The TRS MLAs in Hyderabad have been asked to guarantee victory in all districts under their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the BJP, buoyed by the victory in the recent Dubbak election, plans to make its presence felt in the GHMC election. The saffron party is confident that it would repeat the performance.

The BJP MLA elect Raghunandan Rao hoped that Indians in the north of the city would vote for the BJP. Hyderabad is a cosmopolitan city and there will be some North Indians living here, he said.
