Patna:
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav decided not to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bihar’s designated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to be held today in Patna.
The RJD said it was boycotting the event because the mandate was against the NDA.
In a tweet posted in Hindi, the party, among other things, said: “The mandate of the people has become an order of the government. Ask the unemployed, farmers, contract workers and employed teachers of Bihar what is happening to them. The public is agitated by the NDA fraud. We are the representatives of the public and we stand with them. “
In another tweet about the JDU and the BJP, the RJD said that two defenseless entities were forming a government in Bihar today: one defenseless because it is weak and corrupt, the other because it has no face.
Mr. Yadav had previously alleged irregularities in the Bihar assembly elections held a few days ago and demanded a recount of mail-in ballots in all districts where they were counted last.
Meanwhile, Kumar will be sworn in as Chief Minister for the fourth consecutive term today after a very close election, mainly against Mahagathbadhan, led by the RJD.
The NDA has secured a 125-seat majority in Bihar’s 243-seat Legislative Assembly, of which the BJP won 74 seats, JD (U) 43, and eight in total by two other NDA constituents. RJD, on the other hand, emerged as the largest party with 75 seats, while Congress only won 19 of the 70 seats in which it had contested.
Party leaders from the NDA legislature met Sunday to name him the alliance leader in the Assembly, paving the way for his return as Chief Minister.
