The measures were announced by the Union Interior Minister Amit Shah, who chaired a high-level meeting on the Covid-19 situation in the national capital. Delhi Deputy Governor Anil Baijal, Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, and senior central government officials attended the meeting.
Here is the Center’s 12-point action plan to tackle the Delhi issue. COVID-19 situation:
1. RT-PCR tests will be duplicated
2. Use of Delhi laboratories at full capacity, ICMR and the Ministry of Health to deploy mobile test vans in areas with high risk of Covid infection
3. The capacity of Delhi hospitals and other medical infrastructure will be strengthened. Additional 250-300 ICU beds to be installed at DRDO Covid hospital in Dhaula Kuan

4. More beds with oxygen facilities at the 10,000-bed Covid hospital in Chhattarpur
5. Some designated DCM hospitals will become dedicated hospitals for patients with mild Covid-19 symptoms
6. Multi-departmental teams dedicated to visiting all pvt hospitals in Delhi to examine the information displayed on the availability of beds and the medical infrastructure there
7. Review of containment strategies, such as establishment of containment zones, tracing and contact detection.
8. Central paramilitary forces to provide Delhi with its doctors and paramedics. They will soon be airlifted to Delhi.
9. All isolated home patients must be tracked and transferred to Covid hospitals immediately as required. This will help save as many lives as possible.
10. For critical cases of Covid, the plasma donation protocol must be prepared. A committee chaired by NITI Aayog member VK Paul will report on this soon.
11. Center to provide oxygen cylinders, high-flow nasal cannula, and other equipment to minimize loss of life.
