A senior BSF official on Sunday blamed Pakistan for violating the 2003 ceasefire agreement without provocation and using heavy weapons at the Line of Control (LoC) in northern Kashmir on November 13, inflicting damage on the life and property of the Indian forces, as well as civilians.
The Indian Army and the BSF paid tribute to four army men and one BSF officer who were killed in different sectors of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts in the Pakistan army bombing on Friday. Four civilians, including a woman and a seven-year-old child, were also killed in the exchange of gunfire in the Uri, Naugam, Keran and Gurez sectors.
“For no reason, Pakistan took pleasure in violating the ceasefire using heavy artillery, prompting us to respond. We have also suffered some damage, including the martyrdom of Deputy Inspector Rakesh Dobhal, ”BSF Inspector General Rajesh Mishra said after paying tribute to his murdered colleague.
The BSF said that Pakistan began violating the unprovoked ceasefire in the LoC on November 13, using artillery, mortars and other weapons against civilian areas.
Dobhal, a 2004 deputy batch inspector of the BSF artillery regiment, was hit in a firefight in the Naugam sector of Kupwara. He is survived by his parents, wife and daughter, who live in the Dehradun district (Uttrakhand).
“Pakistan used heavy weapons in this shooting without provocation. The BSF and the army responded without fear, but in the shooting, the army’s jaws were also killed and a lot of damage was inflicted on civilians, including civilian casualties, ”Mishra said.

The army also paid tribute to its murdered men; Havildar Hardhan Chandra Roy (38) from Assam, Naik Satai Bhushan Rameshrao (28) from Nagpur, Gunner Subodh Ghosh (22) from West Bengal and Sepoy Jondhale Rushikesh Ramchandra (20) from Maharashtra, who all gave their lives on November 13.
In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lieutenant General BS Raju, Commander of the Chinar Corps and all ranks paid tribute to soldiers who had received splinter injuries in the Uri and Gurez sectors.
The IG BSF said that the forces responded fiercely during the violation.
“In our proper response, Pakistan’s defenses were also attacked and I understand that they have suffered a lot of damage,” he said.

Pakistani media citing Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) have blamed India for the violation of the ceasefire on November 13. They have said that a Pakistani army soldier and four civilians were killed in an Indian shooting on Friday.
The BSF officer said the militants were waiting on launch pads on the other side of the LoC to infiltrate the country.
“Based on our input, the infiltrators are ready there on launch pads. Around 250-300 are present on each launch pad and do their best to infiltrate the country and attack internal security here, but the military and BSF have largely succeeded in thwarting those efforts, ”Mishra said.
India and Pakistan, which have fought at least three wars since 1947, agreed in 2003 to keep the peace along the border, but violations escalated after bilateral ties plummeted in 2016. India often accuses Pak of violate the ceasefire to provide cover for the infiltrated militants. .
