Indian captain Virat Kohli was brutally trolled on Twitter on Saturday (November 14) for urging his fans not to burst cookies on Diwali. Kohli is currently in Australia and is under mandatory quarantine. The Indian patron took to Twitter on Saturday to extend Diwali greetings.
In her video message, Kohli urged her fans to refrain from popping cookies this Diwali to protect the environment. However, several social media users expressed their anger at Kohli’s request and followed him heavily on Twitter.
In particular, the National Green Court had banned the sale and use of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR until November 30 to curb air pollution that normally increases during Diwali. The ban on the sale of cookies was also imposed in Rajasthan, West Bengal and Odisha.

Kohli, in her video message, said: “A very happy Diwali from me for you and your families. May God bless you with peace, prosperity and happiness this Diwali. Remember not to pop cookies, protect the environment, and have fun at home with your loved ones with a simple diya and candy on this auspicious occasion. God bless you all, take care ”.

Here’s how fans reacted to the video:
Let’s call things by their name. This man Kohli has no guts to tell people to stop sacrificing animals for some festival, but he will only tell me to stop using cookies because animals are afraid of sound. So fear the sound of animals >>>>>> Life.

You play cricket, we gave you love, adulation, status, endorsement and recognition.

Meanwhile, air quality dropped to ‘severe’ at various locations in the national capital on Saturday night due to a combination of burning stubble and exploding firecrackers during Diwali celebrations in violation of a Diwali ban. A layer of haze lingered over Delhi-NCR at night as people continued to set off firecrackers despite the ban, and calm winds allowed pollutants to build up.
