4 dead jaws; Army Hits Pakistan Launch Pads: The Tribune India

Five members of security personnel, including a BSF deputy inspector and four army jawans, were among 11 people killed in multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) from Gurez to the Uri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

India launched a counterattack, killing six to seven Pakistani soldiers, including two SSG (Special Service Group) commandos, and wounding about 10 people on the other side. Videos posted by the Indian military showed the destruction of enemy targets in Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Light a diya as a salute to the soldiers, says PM

New Delhi: On the eve of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the people to light a ‘diya’ as a “salute to the soldiers”, for their exemplary courage. “This Diwali, let’s also light a Diya like # Salute2Soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation … We are also grateful to the families of those on the borders,” he tweeted.

Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said Pakistan used mortars and targeted civilian areas in India. “Our troops retaliated, causing substantial casualties and damage to the Pakistani army infrastructure throughout the LoC. Several ammunition and fuel depots and multiple terrorist launch pads were damaged, ”he said.

Strong response: 6-7 Pakistani soldiers, including two SSG commandos, killed

Four members of the army, a BSF deputy inspector and six civilians were killed in a Pakistani action. “Pakistan initiated an unprovoked violation of the ceasefire across the LoC spread across multiple sectors, including Dawar, Keran, Uri and Naugam. Our troops observed suspicious movements at outposts along the LoC in the Keran sector, ”said Colonel Kalia.
