Sourav Ganguly in Rohit Sharma: The Chairman of the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, has stated that Rohit Sharma has not yet fully recovered from his hamstring problem.
Ganguly revealed that Rohit still has some work to do before fully recovering from the injury, which is why he was not named to the Indian ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series in Australia.
“Rohit is still 70 percent (fit). Why don’t you find out from Rohit himself? That is why it is not yet chosen for the ODI and the Australian T20. Has been added to the test team ” Ganguly told The Week.
Mumbai Indians captain Rohit suffered a hamstring injury during the 2020 Indian Premier League while playing a league match against Kings XI Punjab on October 18.
He missed 4 games as a result of injury, but came back for the team’s last 3 games and even led them to victory in the summit clash by leading from the front with 68 runs against Delhi Capitals in Dubai on November 10.
Australia Indian Tour: Ganguly Discusses Wriddhiman Saha Injury
Ganguly also spoke about the injury of wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and said that his physical condition is being monitored by the board and the physiotherapist of the Indian team. Saha is also recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained during the 2020 IPL league stage while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
“Who should know (about player injuries)? We know it, the Indian physio knows it, the NCA knows it. I think people don’t know how BCCI works. The BCCI coaches, the physical therapist and Wriddhi himself know that he has two hamstring problems. People don’t understand injuries, that’s why they talk nonsense.
“Wriddhi travels to Australia because he will be fit for the tests. It is not part of the shorter formats. For the entire duration of the IPL, Indian physiotherapists and trainers were in Dubai. [India physio] Dr. Nitin Patel is managing the injuries and monitoring everything “, Ganguly said.
The teams are scheduled to play 3 ODI, 3 T20I and 4 tests starting on November 27.
