Appointments in West Bengal are crucial to elections
Appointments in West Bengal are the most critical as the state heads for an Assembly election in 2021. While the BJP emerged victorious in Bihar, where it won 74 seats and regained power alongside Janata Dal (United) under The umbrella of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the party is locked in a bitter battle with the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) in West Bengal.
Earlier this week, a BJP worker was found dead in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district and the party blamed TMC workers for the ‘murder’. On the same day, a convoy of the BJP head of state, Dilip Ghosh, was attacked near Alipurduar. “It is nothing new, I have been attacked many times before. As BJP is gaining popularity in the state, these attacks are being carried out by TMC because they are frustrated. We need a change in Bengal to stop political violence (sic)” . Ghosh said.
West Bengal is scheduled to go to the polls in May 2021.
