In an online press conference, Roman Babushkin, deputy chief of mission at the Russian embassy, ​​said his country is “naturally concerned” about the tensions between India and China, and that it is “very important” for the two Asian neighbors to get involved. more on “constructive dialogue”.

Noting that India and China are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS groups, Babushkin said that “respectful dialogue” is the “main tool” when it comes to cooperation under multilateral platforms.

“It is clear that amid global turbulence and unpredictability, the escalation between India and China would further affect regional instability in our common home, Eurasia. The escalation we are witnessing can be misused by other actors for their geopolitical purposes, ”he said.

The United States, under President Donald Trump, has been extremely critical of China’s aggressive behavior in the region, and Moscow has been skeptical of the Quad mechanism, which comprises the United States, India, Japan and Australia.

When asked whether the SCO and BRICS groups can play a role in defusing tensions between two member countries, the Russian diplomat said the groups have developed mechanisms for positive engagements.
