New Delhi: In the past 24 hours, Delhi recorded the highest deaths from COVID-19 in a single day, with 104 people succumbing to the infection.

This occurs just one day after the national capital registered the highest peak in new COVID-19 cases in one day.

Thursday, Delhi recorded 7,053 COVID-19 cases bringing the total infection count to 4,67,028, while the total number of COVID-19 deaths in Delhi was 7,332.

In the past 24 hours, 6,157 people have recovered or been cured of the deadly new coronavirus and a total of 59,035 COVID-19 tests were performed. There are now 43,116 active COVID-19 cases in Delhi as of Nov 12.

From November 1 to November 11, a total of 768 people have died in Delhi after contracting the coronavirus infection. While for the month of October, the number of people who lost their lives due to coronavirus in Delhi was 1,124.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 infection rate in Delhi was 11.71 percent, while the recovery rate was 89.19 percent. The active case rate stood at 9.23% and the death rate from COVID-19 at 1.57%.

The sudden spike in COVID-19 cases comes amid the holiday season and rising contamination levels.
