Patna:
The dishes were cleared today for the formation of a new government in Bihar with Nitish Kumar, who will return as prime minister, handing Governor Phagu Chauhan resigning from his ministry and recommending dissolving the state assembly, the officials said.
The governor accepted the resignation and asked Kumar to continue as the interim prime minister until the new NDA government takes office.
Previously, the leaders of the four components of the NDA – JD (U), BJP, HAM and Vikassheel Insaan Party – had met informally at 1, Anney Marg, the official residence of the Chief Minister, where it was decided that all newly elected The NDA MLAs will meet on Sunday and formally elect Kumar as their leader.
“The meeting will begin at 12:30 pm on Sunday, November 15, where all subsequent decisions will be made,” Kumar said.
He had also said that the current state cabinet will hold its last meeting in the evening where a decision will be made on the dissolution of the assembly, whose mandate expires on November 29.
“These formalities must be completed prior to the formation of a new government. Cabinet recommendations will be sent to the governor, whose approval will be followed by other steps leading to the formation of a new government,” Kumar added.
At the cabinet meeting, which lasted just 10 minutes, the prime minister thanked all his cabinet colleagues for their cooperation, said Rana Randhir, a BJP leader who held the portfolio of cooperatives in the dissolved cabinet and who returned as MLA from Madhuban. .
Despite the BJP emerging as the largest party in the ruling alliance with 74 seats, 31 more than the JD (U), the top leadership of the saffron party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has emphatically endorsed Kumar as the next. Prime Minister.
He was declared the chief ministerial candidate of the ruling coalition long before the electoral process began.
Informed sources also said that the issues discussed at the informal meeting of NDA leaders included the representation of each constituent in the new cabinet and the election of the president of the assembly.
There is much speculation that the BJP could push for an EBC or a Dalit as a deputy CM, although it was unclear whether the insistence was on replacing veteran leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who has been holding the post for the most part since 2005, or replicating the experiment in adjoining Uttar Pradesh where two leaders share the position.
One of the names circulating the post of Deputy CM is that of Kameshwar Chaupal, a Dalit who was famous for laying the first stone at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya in the 1990s.
Supporters of Mr. Chaupal, a member of the legislative council, gave credence to the speculation when they were noticed chanting slogans about the effect on city streets.
Meanwhile, the NDA, which has three MLAs more than the magic number of 122, was shot in the arm when independent Chakai lawmaker Sumit Singh met with the prime minister and offered him support. Mr. Singh is the son of Narendra Singh, former Minister of State and Rajput leader of Jamui District.
