6 employees share the worst Diwali gift they received from their offices

The number of offices giving their employees some horrible Diwali gifts isn’t new. While employees work hard all year long, festivals are a time to rejoice and celebrate with family and friends. This is also the time when most organizations are racking their brains trying to find the best possible gifts for their employees. In the end, some manage to give beautiful and meaningful gifts, while others fail to impress their employees. Forget about happy, motivational gifts, some companies end up giving away things that even undermine employees.

Six employees share their story of receiving the worst Diwali gift at their offices.

1. Imagine getting a book that tells how employees can improve their work and increase efficiency. I think my company just wanted to indirectly tell all of us that we suck at our work. Too much to get a gift on Diwali. ”

2. “We all got a 300 rupee Amazon gift voucher for the Diwali gift. I mean, we work so hard day and night to make things work and this is what we get as a gift from the festival. It’s worse because we all assume we could get something better, like a bonus or something. But unfortunately, too many expectations. ”

3. “My boss gave me a box of anti-aging lotions and eye cream with a product label that says, ‘reduces wrinkles and ages gracefully.’ First of all, I am only 24 years old and this struck me as an insult. Does it mean I look old and tired? That’s because of the long, grueling hours plus night work hours that my boss has put me through. I’d rather not have that Diwali gift. Worse yet, was it a gift from his wife?

Four. “Last year, I bought this box of fruits and nuts. First of all, it was poorly packaged and half the box was empty. I literally felt so bad that I considered letting the HR department see it by mistake or, you know, the usual thing of talking by mistake. But before I did that, I heard HR say that the company couldn’t afford full boxes this year. ”

5. “My entire team had received coupons for a beautiful coffee in the city. It was very expensive, so we were all very happy. Also, we got two coupons each, so I thought I’d take my girlfriend here for a surprise gift. We arrived in disguise only to find out those coupons had expired 5 months ago! I wish I could have saved myself from embarrassment. ”
