The image of Union Interior Minister Amit Shah on Twitter was removed from the microblogging site on Thursday, in response to a “report from the copyright holder.” The social media platform, however, restored photography after a while.
Clicking on the photo of the senior BJP leader on his verified account, a blank page was displayed with the message: “Media not shown. This image has been removed in response to a report from the copyright holder. “
“Due to an inadvertent error, we temporarily blocked this account in accordance with our global copyright policies. This decision was immediately reversed and the account is fully functional, ”said a Twitter spokesperson.
According to Twitter’s copyright policy, “In general, the photographer and NOT the subject of a photograph is the beneficial owner of the rights to the resulting photograph.”
Recently, the social media platform had removed the display image on BCCI’s verified identifier, citing similar concerns.
