‘Ludo’ just appeared on Netflix and Desi netizens are already making fun of Pankaj Tripathi

Anurag Basu’s new movie, Ludo is now available to stream on Netflix. Based on four different stories, which are connected by a thin thread and overlap at times, the film has a great cast of stars: Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rohit Suresh Saraf, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Pearle Maaney and Inayat Verma.

While many of them leave an impression on their own story, Pankaj Tripathi seems to have caught the attention of Desi netizens in particular, and we understand why.

(Warning: spoilers below).

While the other four are the “pieces” of a Ludo board, Pankaaj Tripathi is perhaps the die: the one that rolls and is the common connection between the four.

From the very first scene itself, the first face that we can actually see on the screen is Pankaaj Tripathi, appearing in her usual “Kaleen Bhaiya” style, evil and not chalante, that everyone has come to recognize. The film begins with Tripathi, called Sattu bhaiya, (Full name still has a Tripathi at the end!) Knocking down a door, separating the lungi from its leg, to show a Lara-Croft Tomb Raider style leg band with a revolver, pulling it out and shooting a man in a bathtub .

It’s Tripathi’s actions that really set the rest of the film in motion, making murder the common factor that begins to connect four lives. The first place where the four characters meet is also in Tripathi’s lair, where an explosion takes place, further consolidating their destinies.

Tripathi laughs, lies, cheats, and if all else fails, he steps out of every situation he finds himself in in the film, and does it right into people’s hearts.

Since the film was released the Netflix, people don’t seem to stop talking about Pankaj Tripathi in it.

Perhaps it is just then, that even on the brink of death, Tripathi still does not die, he survives to the end, even if he is confined to a wheelchair.

Aside from Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra have a stellar performance. Read our review of the movie here.
